Arogyajeevan Project
Niramaya Health Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, conducted an impact assessment of the Aarogya Jeevan project, funded by Wipro Cares Foundation. Implemented in Jogeshwari east slum communities from 2021 to 2024, the project focused on maternal and child health, nutrition, and community health behaviors. The study evaluated the project’s outputs and outcomes, involving a survey of 625 households and interactions with stakeholders. The project, based on an evidence-based approach, included awareness activities on health and nutrition for children, adolescent girls, and women, supporting them in accessing government schemes and healthcare services. The findings showed that the project largely met its proposed targets, with beneficiaries reporting improved health status and increased acceptance of government staff. Specific interventions, such as promoting infant and child feeding practices and addressing adolescent anemia, positively impacted community health. The project also recruited community volunteers to sustain activities post-project. Recommendations include expanding healthcare services, coverage areas, and developing IEC material, leveraging technology for continuous improvement, and building robust community volunteers to ensure the project’s sustainability.
